The primary goal of OffshoreWind4Kids is to teach kids about engineering, technology and renewable energy. We use a hands on approach where children can play with small scale offshore wind turbines, illustrating various aspects of offshore wind energy. We want to support women in engineering by encouraging girls to use the wind turbine kits and we aim to teach as many girls as boys about offshore wind. Secondary goals are to stimulate innovation and to spread awareness of offshore wind to the general public.

From the very start, OffshoreWind4Kids has gathered a lot of attention from across the world. There have been requests to have similar demo days in other countries and to organise classes for schools.

To reach as many children as possible, OffshoreWind4Kids plans to use local hubs. We plan to initially set up hubs in 5 countries: Belgium, the United Kingdom, Denmark, the Netherlands and Germany. OffshoreWind4Kids is seeking industry partners to support setting up these hubs with local universities or educational centres.

There are two types of partners:

  1. Affiliate partner

    • Most suitable for small to medium size companies

    • Starts at 1k€ for the academic year 2021-2022

    • Will be mentioned on the website and occasionally on social media

    • Receives photos from the events for marketing

  2. Main industry partner

    • Most suitable for large companies

    • Starts at 5k€ for the academic year 2021-2022

    • Will be mentioned on the website and often on social media

    • Can supply branded material for demo days (e.g. tents, boats, blades)

    • Can contribute to the prize of the floating wind university challenge

    • Has a representative on the advisory board

    • Receives photos from the events for marketing

Partners are attributed to their preferred market. If a partner wishes to support multiple markets, the contribution scales proportionally. The upcoming months are included in the funding for the year of 2022.

OffshoreWind4Kids plans to use the funds to set up hubs in each market. Each hub will be provided with the necessary material for demo days and school events. Part of the funds will also be used for organisational support and to launch some initial demo days.

With your support, OffshoreWind4Kids plans to teach as many girls and boys as possible about offshore wind.
