Benoit Lecomte 🇫🇷

After several months of work, our CentraleSupélec team took part in the Floating Wind Challenge 2025, a student competition focused on designing, building, and testing a reduced-scale floating wind turbine platform. 🌊⚙️

We had the chance to present our prototype during the final in Zeebrugge — and were pleased to receive the "Most Balanced Structure" mention, rewarding the overall consistency of our project across key criteria like stability, cost efficiency or structural integrity.

From early static and dynamic modeling 🌀, to the construction of the barge at La Fabrique 🔩 (our school’s Fab Lab), to wave tank testing at EDF Lab Chatou 🌊, and finally the sea trials in the North Sea, it was really stimulating to combine theory and hands-on experience!

We even spent a couple of weekends doing arc welding to strengthen the structure — which unfortunately still gave in to the harsh sea conditions during the final. A tough but valuable learning experience!

Many thanks to EDF Renouvelables, in particular Gabriel Dennery, Ladislas Arato and Hugo Crepel, for supporting the project, and to Clément M. and Giorgi Marie-Laurence, for guiding us throughout as project supervisors. Special thanks to Marie-Laurence for all the logistics!

And thank you to Floating Wind Challenge and OffshoreWind4Kids for making this experience possible.

👏 Shout-out to the whole team: Clément Amalric Blanche Peyredieu du Charlat Gabin Princet Lucas Hernandez Lucie Rochas Pauline Paquereau Nicolas Barbarin Tommy CHAMPON Tristan N.
