Floating Wind Challenge day 5

🚌 On day 5 of the Floating Wind Challenge, we took a 90 min bus ride to Vlissingen, one of the key offshore wind hubs 🇳🇱

🧑‍🏭 In the morning we visited the Smulders yard, where we could see the construction of jackets for substations and their topsides. We were guided through the yard providing a lot of insight into the fabrication process

🏗️ In the afternoon, we drove to the other side of the docks to visit TM Edison for the construction of the Princess Elisabeth Island

🙏 Thanks to patrick maes and Fleur Nieuwenhuijse for making this possible! These visits concluded the week of the Floating Wind Challenge and added greatly to the learning experience - we hope that this prepares the students for an exciting future in offshore wind engineering 🌊
