From 7 to 11 July, I had the incredible opportunity to take part in the Offshore Floating Wind Challenge, organised by OffshoreWind4Kids. With our team Wind4Life, we spent an entire semester developing the concept of a floating wind turbine. It was an incredibly rewarding and educational experience, and seeing our structure being tested on the beach in Zeebrugge was truly amazing.
Beyond the challenge itself, we also had the chance to visit the Belgian offshore wind farms by boat and take part in a site visit at Smulders, as well as witness the construction of the caissons for the Princess Elisabeth Island.
A huge thank you to OffshoreWind4Kids for organising this remarkable competition, and to the sponsors Bekaert, Parkwind, Jan De Nul Group, Smulders, and Seaway7, as well as the supporting partners Vestas, EDF power solutions, and ABN AMRO Bank N.V., for making it all possible.
