It has been an exciting semester for TF Wind! 💥
After finishing up manufacture of our 1:40 model platform, we were given the incredible opportunity to test our design in the LIR National Ocean Test Facility in University College Cork thanks to the generosity of the people at MaREI!
Using their wave basin, we were able to gather valuable data on how our ball-joint mechanism reduces pitch motion of the nacelle. We'd like to give special thanks to Milad Zabihi with his incredible generosity and help with setting up and recording data during our day of testing in the facility. We are amazed by all that Milad, Jimmy Murphy and the rest of the team have achieved in MAREI to advance marine energy research in Ireland.
The team have now completed our tech report and are awaiting feedback from the judges of the hashtag#floatingwindchallenge. The competition so far has been a fantastic learning experience and we are very grateful to the organisers and to all those who have supported us along the way.
We are excited and hopeful to show off our design at the final competition in Belgium this Summer!
